Biography
Lynda Keith taught in a variety of Primary and Nursery schools in both Scotland and England before returning to Jordanhill College of Education as a Lecturer in 1990.
After 20 years in Initial Teacher Education where she became Senior Lecturer and Course Director of the PGDE (Primary) Course at Strathclyde University: Jordanhill Campus, she decided in August 2009 to build on her extensive experience and many strengths in teaching and learning to set up her own business: Lynda Keith Education.
During her time at Jordanhill she was constantly in demand to lead professional development courses across Scotland and has gained a national reputation for her work in teaching and learning in Mathematics, Active Learning approaches, and Early Education. To date she has worked with teachers in 26 of the 32 local authorities in Scotland and with schools in the independent sector.
Her significant contribution to education includes:
- The leadership in establishing and designing four pathways through the PGDE (Primary) course at Strathclyde University to widen access through part time and distance learning provision.
- International teacher recruitment in Canada
- Expert panel member for the accreditation of research funding for Numeracy in Canada
- Developments in Gaelic Medium Teacher Education
- Leadership of the Mathematics module on the PGDE (Primary) for 15 years, incorporating the changes and implications of Curriculum for Excellence.
- Key provider of CPD at national, local authority and school level
- Extensive invitations for keynotes speeches e.g. BEAM, BAECE, LTS, SCIS
- The development of teaching and learning materials, most notably the Scholastic Writing Workshop and current involvement as Series Editor of Heinemann Active Maths ( Pearson Education )
- Member of the Quality Assurance Team for Curriculum for Excellence: Mathematics.
- Associate Inspector for HMIE in the Review of Initial Teacher Education in Literacy and Numeracy.
