Biography
I have taught in a variety of Primary and Nursery schools in both Scotland and England before returning to Jordanhill College of Education as a Lecturer in 1990.
After 20 years in Initial Teacher Education where I became Senior Lecturer and Course Director of the PGDE (Primary) Course at Strathclyde University: Jordanhill Campus, I decided in August 2009 to build on my extensive experience and many strengths in teaching and learning to set up my own business: Lynda Keith Education - Now in its 14th year
During my time in Initial Teacher Education at Strathclyde University I was heavily involved in leading professional development courses across Scotland and gained a national reputation for my work in teaching and learning in Mathematics, Play – based and Active Learning approaches and in all aspects of Early Learning.
My significant contribution to education includes:
- The leadership in establishing and designing four pathways through the PGDE (Primary) course at Strathclyde University to widen access through part time and distance learning provision.
- Leadership of Mathematics on the PGDE (Primary) for 15 years, incorporating the changes and implications of Curriculum for Excellence.
- Member of the Quality Assurance Team for Curriculum for Excellence: Mathematics.
- Extensive invitations for keynotes speeches e.g. BEAM, BAECE, SCIS, King's Group, COBIS Madrid and OSIRIS EDUCATION - World Education Summit 2021
- The development of teaching and learning materials, most notably the Scholastic Writing Workshop and as Series Editor and Co-author of Heinemann Active Maths (Pearson Education). In addition to this I have written and customised professional learning materials on Early Learning, Developing Active Learning Approaches in Literacy and Developing a Quality Environment, Quality Experiences and Progression in Numeracy and Mathematics for several Local Authorities.
